Church of Santa Maria Alemanna (much repaired from earthquake damage)

The English King, Richard the Lionheart worshipped here in 1190 while on a Crusade journey.  The church was built during the Norman domination of the island.

The volcano Stromboli, actually the island of Stromboli

which, other than being next on the itinerary after Messina, has nothing to do with Messina.  But some of these photos are nice.  Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes on the planet.
