This is one of the first jet engines manufactured in the United States.  It is a copy of the British engine developed by Sir Frank Whittle.  The first flight using a GE Whittle occurred on 1 October 1942.

 

 

 
Project Mercury MC-2 Pressure Suit

This is the training suit worn by Project Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper who make the final flight in the Mercury series.
